How to Vote

In-Person Voting

You may choose to vote in person at your polling place, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 8, and you will be provided a provisional paper ballot. Accommodations will be made for people with disabilities to use an accessible voting device. Remember, you can return your mail-in ballot at your polling place. Vote By Mail

All active registered voters in New Jersey will automatically receive their ballots in the mail, at the address where the voter is registered.

Then all you have to do is VOTE, SIGN, SEAL, and RETURN. How you return it is up to you.

1. Mail: It must be postmarked on or before November 8 and be received by your county’s Board of Elections on or before November 10.

2. Secure Ballot Drop Box: Place your ballot in one of your county’s secure ballot drop boxes by November 8.

3. Board of Elections Office: Deliver your ballot in person to your county’s Board of Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on November 8.

4. Polling Place: Bring your ballot to your polling place by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 8. Remember only you, the voter, can bring your ballot to your polling place on Election Day.

What If I Haven’t Received My Ballot?

Every active voter registered in New Jersey should receive a ballot in the mail. If it hasn’t arrived by October 18, track your mail-in ballot status online at Vote.NJ.Gov or contact your County Clerk, listed on the County Election Officials page.

Register to Vote Online:

To register online, you will need your date of birth and one of the following forms of identification:

  • A current and valid Driver’s License or a non-driver Identification Card (ID card) issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC)
    Your information will be provided to the MVC to validate identification, and to retrieve a copy of your digitized signature.

OR:

  • A Social Security number
    To use your social security number, you must have the ability to sign on-screen or upload your signature to complete the registration process. If you are unable to provide a digital signature, you can not register online. Click here to download the voter registration application for your county

Vote by Mail Instructions for Atlantic County

Voting By Mail
Counties will begin mailing ballots to voters 45 days before an election, but some counties will begin before then. You can check on the status of your vote-by-mail ballot using the Track My Ballot Portal online or you can contact your County Clerk. Atlantic County Clerk’s Office Website

Return your ballot. How you return it is up to you.
Select one of the following three ways:

  • Mail: It must be postmarked on or before 8:00 p.m. Election Day and be received by your county’s Board of Elections on or before 6 days after Election Day.
  • Secure Ballot Drop Box: Place it in one of your county’s secure ballot drop boxes by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Secure Ballot Drop Box locations
  • Board of Elections Office: Deliver it in person to your county’s Board of Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. County Election Officials

NOTE: Your Vote-By-Mail ballot CANNOT be returned to your In-Person Early Voting Poll Location or your Election Day Poll Location.
