  • How to Appeal Property Taxes in Atlantic City/County
    How do I appeal my property taxes in Atlantic City/County?
    A property owner may appeal his tax assessment by filing a Petition of Appeal and paying a filing fee ranging from $5.00 to $150.00 based on the assessed valuation.
    The appeal must be received by the county Board of Taxation on or before April 1 of the tax year. Supporting proof should include appraisals or comparable sales—not more than 5 comparable sales and information should include the block, lot, sale price and deed date.

The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, 1-800-496-4570,  is part of South Jersey Legal Services, a private, nonprofit legal services organization which provides free legal services to low-income people in Atlantic County, and the other counties making up South Jersey.

Please note that this Taxpayer Clinic does not prepare taxes; instead they provide assistance with feder income tax controversie related to:  Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Help Preventing Tax Levies and Collection, Challenges to Tax Liability, Employee/Independent Contractor Issues, Identity Teft and other IRS disputes.
