WorkAC is a joint effort between ACCC Worthington Campus Workforce Development Department, Atlantic County, the Workforce Development Board, and the Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, is a new program which helps connect Atlantic County residents with jobs. The county board requested the program “to help some of the dislocated workers in our area, primarily workers from the casino layoffs.”
Job seekers should bring basic identification, a resume and any documentation they might need for a job application to the office.
The service will be available until June 30. No appointments are necessary.
WorkAC office is located at the college’s Worthington Atlantic City Campus at 1535 Bacharach Blvd., Room W105, in the Caesars Entertainment Hospitality and Gaming Studies Wing. Office hours are Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., with extra hours until 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Catholic Charities Casino Closings Hotline
In an effort to assist the many people impacted by the casino closings, Catholic Charities has formed a response team that can be reached by calling 856.342.4145. Case managers will assist those eligible for help and will direct others to agencies that may be of assistance. Catholic Charities has also created an Atlantic City Casino Closing Resources page on their website that provides information about local resources.
AtlantiCare Scholars Program
As part of their ongoing efforts to help displaced casino employees, AtlantiCare has started a scholarship program to help members of the community to begin or further a career in healthcare. AtlantiCare has partnered with Atlantic Cape Community College to enable selected applicants to choose from one of four courses of study--EKG Monitor Technician, Certified Home Health Aide, Patient Care Technician, or Central Service Technician. Approximately 60 scholarships will be awarded over the next three years.
Each course requires minimum prerequisites for enrollment including, but nor limited to a high school diploma or GED, Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores, and background checks. Please visit www.atlanticare.org/scholars for more information and to complete an application.
